— An all-American apple pie cocktail

All-American Apple Pie

July 4 inspired this cocktail, which gives a nod to picnics, parties, and apple pie. The fireworks are provided by the sizzle of calvados, a French apple brandy from Normandy.

Red, white, and bountiful

While “An apple a day” may not guarantee good health, apples are indeed nutritious and offer various health benefits. They bring fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants to the party, all known to support overall well-being. Opting for fresh, tart apples, provides a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. This can enhance the overall flavor profile of your cocktails. The simplicity of this ingredient coupled with its comforting, familiar scent, captures the hearts of the nation, coast to coast.

From fallen fruit to falling fruit

The forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden is often depicted as an apple. In Homer’s Odyssey, the golden apple triggers the Trojan War. Folk hero William Tell was forced to shoot an apple off his son’s head with a bow and arrow. Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity when he saw an apple fall from a tree. Given that there are more than 7,500 varieties of the fruit, its historical and cultural significance could never be overstated in a million years…
